- Y’s Architectural Design Office, Mr. Seno, 1st Class Architect designed this 1 story commercial structure in wood frame as response to the facility’s owner. The structure’s intended use is as an extended care facility for the elderly and as such the owner wished to avoid the use of steel and concrete as much as possible while insuring high seismic integrity for the structure.
- In order to keep overall costs to a reasonable level and below those of Steel and R/C construction, Mr. Seno opted in relying strictly on commonly available standard JPZ P&B lumber sizes. A unique inverted truss design system was employed to span the roof/ceiling where Steel Cables were used as Tension members for the inverted truss components.
- Portions of the tension members of the inverted truss components are left exposed and part of the interior design.
